Little Manfred by Michael Morpurgo

This book is about a war story that takes place on the beach. One day when two kids were walking along the beach they meet two old men. The kids discover that the two men had come to the beach because one of the men (Walter) had lived there after the war with a host family. It turned out that he lived with the children's grandparents and mum. 

Walter also had another friend that was with him at the time but on the that day that they were mean't to leave and go back home he died. He was called Manfred and he and the children's mother (Grace) had a good friendship. So before he left he made her a gift to remember him but sadly he died before he could give it to Grace, so Walter had to give it to her. The gift was a little wooden dog and she called him Manfred in memory of Manfred. 

I liked this book because it didn't drag on in certain bits. I recommend this book if you like story about war I rate it 7/10.
